Megyn lands top producer

-

MEGYN Kelly has hired legendary veteran producer Jackie Levin to helm her new NBC morning show.

On Friday, NBC confirmed that Levin will be Kelly’s executive producer for her 9 a.m. show, which starts in the fall. Levin has worked for NBC for nearly 30 years and is currently senior producer in charge of special projects and books for “Today.” She previously worked at “Dateline” and at ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Levin has been responsible for some of NBC’s biggest bookings, including Amanda Knox, Elizabeth Smart, George W. Bush, Al Gore, Chelsea Clinton, Dick Cheney and Jennifer Lopez when each was a big newsmaker.

Levin has also produced many big events at “Today,” including all three Rokerthon broadcasts. Levin is legendary in the publishing world because she is the pre-eminent TV exec for new books, and getting booked by Levin can make a new book a best seller.

A source said, “Megyn personally picked Jackie as her EP after an exhaustive search. Megyn believes that Jackie’s experience in landing the ‘big gets,’ plus her vast experience at NBC, will make her show a huge success. Megyn’s show will be under the ‘Today’ umbrella, and will be taped in front of a live audience.”

Kelly has also signed producer Katy Davis — who worked as a producer for Oprah Winfrey’s show for 20 years — as a creative consultant. Insiders have previously told Page Six that Kelly “wants to be the next Oprah” by focusing on inspirational stories and newsmakers.

Noah Oppenheim, president of NBC News, confirmed the hirings in a memo sent to staff. He said, “Having worked closely with Jackie ... I know she’s one of the most talented and hardestworking producers in television news . . . Jackie has been responsible for some of the network’s biggest bookings of all time — from presidents to pop stars — and has senior-produced some of ‘Today’s’ most ambitious events.” Christine Cataldi, who has produced “Today’s” third hour for four years, will be Kelly’s co-executive producer.
