McAdoo expecting ‘everyone’ at minicamp

- By PAUL SCHWARTZ

After 10 organized team activity practices in the books, the Giants next week gather for a three-day minicamp and attendance is mandatory for all players. Those who do not show up will get fined. Players eschewing the voluntary OTAs are not fined. Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and defensive end Olivier Vernon did not attend any of the 10 practices. “Yeah, sure, I expect everyone to be here,’’ Ben McAdoo said Friday, referring to the mini- camp. “I am not spending time talking about attendance, but yeah it is minicamp and we look forward to everyone being here next week.’’

Second-year receiver Roger Lewis was again on the field, not missing any time after his arrest last week for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

He was pulled over June 4 in Reynoldsville, Ohio, and charged with OVI. According to the police report, Lewis was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, and .2 grams of marijuana was found in his car. Lewis has issued a plea of not guilty.

David Tyree, the Giants’ director of player development, told reporters earlier this week that there was more to Lewis’ story that has not yet been reported.

“We are going to let the process take care of itself,’’ McAdoo said. “It is a legal process right now.’’

Asked his reaction to Lewis’ arrest, McAdoo said: “We will let the legal process play itself out. We have to make sure that we put ourselves in good situations.’’
