Thugs invade B’klyn home, grab 100G in slot winnings
A pair of two-armed bandits barged into a Brooklyn granny’s apartment Saturday morning and stole a briefcase stuffed with $100,000 she had won playing slots in Atlantic City.
The thieves knocked on 76-year-old Yvonne Reeder’s door in East New York at around 9:50 a.m.
When the high-rolling septuagenarian answered — thinking the door-knockers were harmless Jehovah’s Witnesses — the duo pushed their way inside and forced her to ante up, snatching the lockbox full of winnings, according to police.
“They pushed me over by the wall,” Reeder told The Post.
“And then one went in towards the bedroom. And the other one, he had his hand in a pouch or something. I thought he had a gun or was going to shoot or whatever,” she said.
“The other one went in [the bedroom] and just picked up the stuff, and they left.
“It was like a little suitcase,” she said of her box of money. “It had a handle; you can carry it.”
Only one of the men said anything during the jackpot heist, she recalled — and only because the creep saw how upset she was.
“He said he wasn’t going to hurt me.”
Reeder, who was not injured during the robbery, said she won the dough about five years ago, playing the $5 slots during two trips to Atlantic City.
She took home $50,000 each trip, first from Bally’s Atlantic City, and then from Caesars Atlantic City.
“I was going [to Atlantic City often], but then I stopped once my husband passed away,” she said.
“I don’t like Atlantic City anymore.”
The crooks were in their mid-20s and wore dark bandannas, police said.
“Why? Why would people do that?” Reeder wondered.
“That doesn’t make sense . . . It still hasn’t sunk in,” she said.
