Junior’s of Flatbush says ‘Times’ is right

In a vote of confidence for Times Square, Junior’s Restaurant, known for its Brooklyn cheesecakes, is opening a second location at the crossroads of the world, says third-generation owner Alan Rosen.

Taking a page from Starbucks’ saturation playbook, Junior’s is opening this Wednesday at 1626 Broadway between 49th and 50th streets, the former home of Ruby Foo’s.

The location is a few blocks away from its cushy, tourist-packed spot at 1515 Broadway at West 45th Street, which opened with a ribbon-cutting in June 2006.

The 8,700-square-foot new space will seat 286 people, including the bar area.

Junior’s, which is now a chain, opened on Flatbush Avenue in 1950. The menu still includes New York staples like pastrami and corned beef sandwiches. Oscar-winning actress and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow and tennis great Serena Williams have invested in Daily Harvest, a Big Apple-based online subscription service that ships frozen “superfoods” used for single serve smoothies, soups, overnight oats and chia puddings, said Rachel Drori, the company’s founder and chief executive. Daily Harvest has 23 flavor combinations. At home, folks take one of the single serve cups out of the freezer, add a liquid of their choice and then blend, heat or soak the combo.

For other options, OurHarvest, an online farmer’s market, ships fresh , unfrozen food — and donates a meal to a food bank or food pantry for every order over $25, says founder Michael Winik.

WE HEAR . . . The Surf Lodge in Montauk, LI, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, in part, by hiring a new executive chef, Robert Sieber, who trained under Daniel Boulud and has worked in kitchens around the world.
