Drama at Tonys’ biggest bash

- Emily Smith esmith@nypost.com

THERE was more drama after the Tonys than onstage. A brawl broke out at the night’s hottest afterparty, where one expelled guest was so hell-bent on getting back in, the cops were called after he made a wild, drunken attempt to breach the bash.

Well-heeled guests at DKC/O&M p.r. whiz Rick Miramontez’s elegant Carlyle fête after the awards included Anna Wintour, Scarlett Johansson, Bette Midler, Glenn Close, Sally Field and Olivia Wilde. Extra security was on hand to deal with crashers at the party, where Café Caryle was transformed into “Disco Dolly!” as an homage to “Hello, Dolly!” But one guest “showed up to the party punchy and completely drunk,” said a witness. “He was belligerent. He tried to force his way through and a security guard reminded him that he’d been kicked out.”

Dramatically, the theater guy then “ran through the revolving door, chased by security into the lobby at peak party,” the source said. “He threw a fit. The poor bouncer had to use force to subdue the maniac because he was so wasted. He was on the ground screaming.”

Video viewed by Page Six captures the fracas, with high-pitched yelping, sounds of breaking glass and a chap in a tux trying to writhe on his back toward Café Carlyle. Cops were called.

“They really were [needed] but didn’t arrest him. It was insane,” said a spy. Buzz spread that “the person in question was a Broadway producer.”

Inside the party, “Midler’s two hunky bodyguards were seen dancing into the night while being drooled over by a gaggle of older ladies watching from the sidelines,” a spy said, as various “Cats” cast members prowled the dance floor.

Darren Criss and Billy Stritch entertained other guests in Bemelmans Bar. “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” star Jackie Hoffman tried to coax Kevin Spacey into singing a duet at the piano, but the Tonys host figured, “I’ve sung enough for one night,” a spy said. Best Musical Actress nominees Christine Ebersole, Eva Noblezada and Denée Benton were all hugging with winner Midler and the honor’s presenter, Close.

“The only one missing was Patti LuPone.”
