- Leonica Valentine

A ten-year-old Staten Island boy was shot in his left shoulder Saturday night after a guest began handling a licensed firearm he found in a second floor room in the youngster’s home, police said.

The man, in his 40s, accidentally dropped the gun, causing it to discharge.

The bullet went through the floor and struck the child on the floor below, according to cops.

The guest fled and police were searching for him early Sunday. His name was not released.

The boy was taken to Staten Island University North, where he was being treated for a non-life threatening wound.
