Top editor: Proud to be a bitch

-

MARIE CLAIRE Editor-in-Chief Anne Fulenwider isn’t offended if someone calls her a “bitch.” She told Page Six at Hearst Magazines’ Fragrance Foundation Awards, “I do not worry about the label of being a bitch. Trying to go through life trying to make everybody like you is really the worst thing you can do. It does not work. It is a sure path to failure.” She explained, “I myself was an intern who hustled, and I always say, no matter what the task, do it and do it well, even if you do not want to do it.” When asked about the moment she finally felt like a boss, Fulenwider continued, “I was the editor-in-chief of Brides magazine, which I loved. I told everyone that we will have the weekly update meeting at 9 a.m. on Monday, and quick as a flash, everyone said, ‘Can we do it at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, because not everyone is here on a Monday.’ My reply: ‘Well, if we have the meeting on Monday, everyone will come.’ So sometimes being the boss means making the unpopular decision.” She has previously told reporters, “As my husband will tell you, I love bossing people around.”
