Mass. ferryboat crash hurts 18
Eighteen people were injured when a high-speed ferryboat struck a jetty in Hyannisport, Mass., and began taking on water, authorities said Saturday.
The ferry Iyanough hit the jetty and grounded on the rocks at the Hyannis Harbor entrance Friday night.
The vessel serves a route between Hyannis and the island of Nantucket.
Hyannis acting Fire Chief Dean Melanson said 15 of the injured were taken to a hospital.
It was unclear how the crash happened, said Steamship Authority General Manager Wayne Lamson.
