Charge in shot that hit SI kid
A man who accidentally fired a bullet that went through the floor at a Staten Island home and struck a 10-year-old boy was charged Sunday, police said.
Semion Mosheshvili, 42, turned himself in at the 123rd Precinct just after midnight and was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and acting in a manner injurious to a child, officials said.
Mosheshvili was handling the gun on the second floor of a friend’s home on Deisius Street in Prince’s Bay when the weapon discharged at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, cops said.
The bullet traveled through the floor and struck the child, who was on the first floor, in the right shoulder. The boy was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital and was expected to survive.
The gun that Mosheshvili accidentally fired was legally owned and registered by his friend, who was not identified and has not been charged with a crime. The friend was showing him the gun when he accidentally fired it, cops said.
