Future find by Francesa

-

IF YOU had a dollar for every caller Mike Francesa ridiculed as a knownothing then hung up despite the caller being absolutely right, heck, you’d be able to buy a good seat to a Yankee home game.

Still, there are those times when his pomposity is so extreme that you want to reach through the radio to slug him.

Last week a well-spoken caller tried to educate him to Christian Pulisic, an 18year-old attacking midfielder on the U.S. National Soccer Team with the skills and early track record to become a superstar. Even if a radio sports-talker cares little about soccer, he or she should learn and then know about Pulisic.

But Francesa’s too smart to not know everything, thus he never let the caller continue, slam-dunking the phone on him while dismissing him as a jerk and perhaps a prank caller, a la Al Alburquerque, whom “Let’s Be Honest” later pathetically explained he knows only as Alberto Alburquerque — even if no one else does.

Soon, Francesa will claim he’s the one who discovered Pulisic, recognized his greatness the moment he saw him, the way he “discovered” Matt Harvey after dismissing him as “hype.”

Incidentally, there was an incident at WFAN/CBS Sports Radio’s downtown HQ Friday, a clash-of-egos screaming match between Francesa and Brandon Tierney — that could be heard at FAN’s old shop in Astoria.
