Knicks grab two more guards in 2nd round

Knicks president Phil Jackson talked about wanting guards in the draft and pulled off a trifecta.

After nabbing point guard Frank Ntilikina in the lottery, Jackson took two guards in the second round, including a 6-foot-6 shooting guard with a sketchy past but a solid offensive game.

With the 44th pick, the Knicks tabbed Damyean Dotson, a senior who played two years at Oregon and two years at Houston. He got kicked out of Oregon after being investigated on a forcible rape charge in 2014. Charges never were filed and he filed his own $10 million lawsuit that got dismissed.

With the 58th pick, the Knicks took a European stash pick who will play at the Orlando summer league, but won’t be on their roster — 6-4 Serbian point guard Ognjen Jaramaz, who wasn’t even in the official draft guide but played in Belgrade.

Dotson, who attended the draft, said the rape accusation and the ordeal that followed made him “more hungry.’’

“I didn’t know what was going to happen,’’ Dotson said. “I was just hoping for the best. [It taught me] just to stay focused, learn from it. Everything that guys don’t get to experience right away, I got to experience at 20 years old. Just having a chance to play again, it made me work even harder. It made me more hungry.”

Dotson, 23, has a good 3point shot, can drive and is a good passer. He averaged 17.4 points as a senior at Houston.

“This is a dream come true for me,’’ Dotson said. “I bring that versatility, great attitude and effort. Probably the best player and the best teammate that anybody on the Knicks ever had.”

“It means a lot. I’m very excited. I’m ready to get in there and get some shots up. I’ll kiss the ground [if I have to].’’

Jaramaz played for Mega Bemax — the same club from which budding Nuggets standout Nikola Jokic graduated. The Knicks would have preferred to package their two picks and move up in the second round, but couldn’t make a deal.
