Diplomas spell trouble
A misspelling on the diplomas at Rome Free Academy in upstate New York gave the Class of 2017 an Italian twist.
The text on the diplomas awarded Saturday to graduates said the diplomas were issued in Roma, New York, not Rome, New York.
City School Superintendent Peter Blake said the vendor who supplied the diplomas used the Italian spelling of Rome. The mistake wasn’t discovered until after the ceremony.
The vendor is printing new diplomas with the correct spelling.
