Cuo, Blas take A(bsent) train
Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo were noticeably absent from the scene of Tuesday’s train derailment in Harlem — staying silent on the latest crisis to hit the beleaguered subway system.
Cuomo, who was in the city in the early morning, had gone back to Albany by the time of the crash.
City Hall said the mayor couldn’t attend a crash press conference because of “meetings and briefings” at Gracie Mansion.
“Sometimes, it’s helpful to have the mayor or other top officials there, and sometimes it serves little purpose,” said spokesman Eric Phillips.
Later, de Blasio ignored reporters as they shouted questions about the derailment.
