Corrupt pols turn on Ruben

- Georgett Roberts and Max Jaeger

A potential rogues’ gallery of witnesses is lining up to testify at this Queens councilman’s trial.

Three corrupt politicians may take the stand against disgraced Councilman Ruben Wills when he goes on trial for allegedly stealing $30,000 in taxpayer money and using it on a personal shopping spree, according to new court filings.

Prosecutors and Wills’ defense submitted a list of 86 potential witnesses Tuesday that included former state Sens. Shirley Huntley, Malcolm Smith and John Sampson — all of whom have been convicted of corruption in schemes to steal taxpayer money or influence elections.

Wills allegedly skimmed $30,000 from his nonprofit New York 4 Life in 2012 and used some of the cash to fund shopping sprees that included a $750 Louis Vuitton purse, according to state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Huntley — for whom Wills was chief of staff before his election to the council in 2010 — was released from a federal halfway house in 2014 after serving 10 months of a oneyear sentence for stealing $87,700 from a separate nonprofit she ran.

She got the short stint because she turned informant and secretly recorded 10 fellow pols — including Wills, Smith and Sampson — in her home in 2012.

Smith is serving seven years for trying to bribe his way onto the Republican mayoral ticket in 2013.

Sampson is currently serving five years for lying to the FBI about illegally skimming more than $400,000 from foreclosure deals he worked on as a court-appointed referee.
