A distraught Connecticut mom killed herself after trying to strangle her 8-yearold daughter in their suburban home — two years after her husband took his own life, according to a report.

Ivanna Krekhtyak, 36, of Fairfield, choked her daughter, Anna, until the child passed out Saturday, then hanged herself in the basement of their home, the Connecticut Post reported.

Anna revived and ran to a neighbor’s home crying for help, with strangulation marks on her neck.

The child’s statements “were consistent with what investigators found at the scene,” Lt. Robert Kalamaras of the Fairfield Police Department told the paper.

Cops said they had been called to the family home on at least one other occasion by Anna for reports that Krekhtyak was suicidal following her husband’s death, according to the report.

Krekhtyak’s husband, Vasyl Krekhtyak, 38, hanged himself from a tree in the woods at nearby Fairfield University on June 22, 2015.

His suicide came one week after he appeared in a Florida court on criminal charges of allegedly torching a vacant home in a suburb of Tampa.

Ivanna Krekhtyak later told cops her husband had been working in Florida, but got sick and came home to see a doctor.

He was suffering from mental illness and reported hearing voices, she said.

Ivanna Krekhtyak, an immigrant from Ukraine who spoke little English, had to care for her daughter alone and was beset by depression.

In February 2016, police returned to the home after getting a call from one of Krekhtyak’s co-workers, who said Ivanna had left work at around noon, crying and depressed about her husband’s suicide.
