Rikers guard guilty ’too
The Rikers Island guard who smuggled a tattoo gun into prison for her femaleinmate lover took a plea deal Tuesday and will get five years of probation, prosecutors announced.
Corrections Capt. Shantay Dash, with a tattoo gun she ordered on Amazon, helped jailbird Robin Hamilton cover up a tattoo that would connect her to a 2013 robbery.
When prosecutors went to photograph Hamilton’s tattoo — which read “ERIKA” and matched a tattoo on the arm of a person caught on surveillance video — it was no longer there.
Hamilton ended up going to prison on a 51-years-to-life sentence, despite Dash’s help.
Dash faced felony charges of promoting contraband and official misconduct, but copped to the lesser crime of evidence-tampering as part of the plea.
