DERBY DISS

- By DAN MARTIN

Not everyone is pleased by Gary Sanchez’s inclusion in the Home Run Derby next week in Miami.

“Gary shouldn’t be there,’’ the Rays’ Logan Morrison told the Tampa Bay Times on Tuesday. “Gary’s a great player, but he shouldn’t be in the Home Run Derby.’’

Morrison has 24 homers this season, trailing only Aaron Judge in the American League, and he is up for the Final Vote, which fans vote on for the last player selected in each league.

Sanchez missed a month of the season with a biceps injury and has 13 home runs.

“I remember when I had 14 home runs,’’ Morrison said. “That was a month and a half ago.’’

Morrison insisted, though, he’s “not disappointed.”

“It’s par for the course,” Morrison said. “I play for the Rays. I get it. They can’t even get my picture right. When they put my name up there they put Corey [Dickerson]’s picture up there ... on MLB Network.”

While Greg Bird’s lengthy absence due to a bone bruise in his right ankle remains a mystery, so does Matt Holliday’s illness.

Joe Girardi said Holliday was “a little bit better” Tuesday, but admitted he wasn’t doing much physically.

The manager added the team is still awaiting test results, so it’s impossible to predict when he might return to the lineup.

Since hitting a homer and a double in his MLB debut in Houston last week, Clint Frazier hasn’t gotten a hit.

That includes an 0-for-3 in Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays, when Frazier started his fourth straight game.

“As far as my comfort level goes, I feel really good right now,” said Frazier, who was in right field Tuesday, in place of Aaron Judge, who served as the DH. “I don’t feel any pressure. I’m having good at-bats. I’m not getting hits, but I’m not worried about that. I feel like I’ve been up here for a while. It feels normal.”

To make room for the return of CC Sabathia and Adam Warren from the disabled list, right-handers Domingo German and Bryan Mitchell were optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The Yankees want Mitchell to work as a starter in the minors rather than keep him in the bullpen in The Bronx. They are hoping Warren’s return to the bullpen provides some help.
