Blas’ Untimely Jet-Setting: Leaving NYers in the Dust

-

Well, it’s official: Mayor de Blasio has surpassed David Dinkins as the worst mayor in this city’s history (“And don’t come back!” July 7) .

As a retired NYPD sergeant, I find it appalling and disgusting that this clueless idiot ignores a grieving city and a class of new officers to go to Germany and protest while we honor a true hero, Officer Miosotis Familia. Thomas Fraumeni Staten Island

De Blasio is representing a destructive ideology rather than New York City.

After the murder of a police officer, a mayor rallies with the family, stands behind the police and vows to see justice done. De Blasio could not spare time even to fake such tact but rushed off to Europe to increase his street cred with the left. He had no concern for the murdered officer. Personal advancement first.

It’s time for the New York Democratic Party to dump this tedious, selfabsorbed oaf. He is unfit for the office.

I remember the truly great liberal New York Democrat Ed Koch, who always asked New Yorkers how he was doing. De Blasio does not ask such a question on the street. He knows the answer. Paul O’Keefe Union City, NJ

How dare de Blasio jet off to Germany after one of our police officers was assassinated? Meanwhile, we have to stay in New York and pay his legal fees.

How stupid do you have to be to vote for him again? In the next election, vote for Nicole Malliotakis. Anyone is better qualified to run our great city than Bill de Blasio. Sandy Kane Manhattan

While the city mourns the assassination of another NYPD officer, our left-wing, uncaring mayor jets off to join the protests at the G-20 meetings in Germany.

The contempt he holds not only for the NYPD but for all New Yorkers has become apparent.

The best thing we can do is vote him out of office and send him off to Europe permanently. Tony Rotunno Staten Island

What a poor decision on de Blasio’s part to attend the protests at the G-20 in Hamburg, Germany, after the assassination of a beloved police officer, not to mention all the other current problems in the city.

I can’t fathom his reasoning for putting New Yorkers in the back of the bus instead of doing what he was elected to do: healing the city and addressing the problems that abound. Andrew Watz Glendale

This November, please remind voters that de Blasio jetted off to Europe after a police officer was assassinated in the line of duty, yet he delayed his trip to Italy when Eric Garner died in police custody.

It seems our mayor did not even consider going to the police graduation. What a disgrace. In Yiddish, this is called a

shonda, which means the most extreme shameful behavior.

He’s not part of the G-20. He is just going to protest. The city obviously means absolutely nothing to this mayor. New Yorkers are just being used to help him gain national and international recognition. It will be our shonda if we elect him again. Carol Meltzer Manhattan

I find the mayor’s insensitive attitude absolutely deplorable. Not only was he not sensitive to the death of one of the city’s Finest, he didn’t have the decency to attend the graduation ceremony for the new class of officers. NYPD officers need praise and positive assurance that he will have their backs more than ever.

All he cares about is turning city jails into summer resorts and prancing around the world, sticking his nose into issues that should not be his top priority. I thank the Lord that he’s not my mayor, but I feel for the residents of the city who are stuck with him. My heart and prayers go out to the family of Officer Familia. George Coppola Whippany, NJ

De Blasio is a miscreant who abandoned the city after a police officer was executed. His disdain for our city is on full display.

Why would anyone vote for this do-nothing fool to represent our great city for another four years? Maureen Brown Manhattan
