Mystery Trump chopper crunch

-

ONE of President Donald’s beloved personal helicopters was involved in an accident last month in Manhattan, but the details are being kept strictly under wraps, Page Six has exclusively learned.

On June 15, a Trump chopper was involved in a crunch in Manhattan when its tail rotor hit a fence upon landing at the West Side Heliport alongside the Hudson River. Photos seen by Page Six (opposite page) appear to show that the rotor was completely sheared off.

Witnesses say damage to the aircraft was enough to completely ground it, and it had to be hauled away for repairs.

But first — and most importantly — helipad workers taped up the stricken chopper to completely obscure the word “Trump” and avoid embarrassment for the president over his incapacitated copter.

One witness said, “This accident was the result of a bad landing. The helicopter’s tail rotor hit the fence and came off. It is not believed anyone was hurt. But the first concern was to tape up the helicopter so nobody could see it was Trump’s as it was lifted up and out by crane.”

The president must travel on Air Force One and Marine One, but his family members still use his personal helicopters when he isn’t with them.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were initially rumored to have been aboard at the time, but Trump insiders denied they were involved. The Trump Organization did not return repeated calls about the chopper crunch or who was on board. The FAA confirmed it is investigating the accident, but referred all inquiries to the White House, which didn’t comment.

Trump owns two planes — a 757 and a corporate jet — and three helicopters. Two of those are 1989 Sikorsky S-76Bs, while the third, a 1990 Sikorsky S76B, was purchased in March 2012. While much has been written about Trump’s “aging air fleet,” he says he likes older aircraft because they’ve been “tested” and have “been around.” Plus, he uses them for marketing as “flying billboards” at his golf courses and Florida club Mar-a-Lago.
