Arab killers post selfies . . . then gun down Israeli cops

- By YARON STEINBUCH

Two Israeli border policemen were gunned down by three ArabIsraeli attackers Friday morning — just moments after two of the killers posted smiling selfies on Facebook.

“Tomorrow’s smile will be more beautiful, God willing,” one of the gunmen wrote alongside the photo, shortly before attacking guards at the Temple Mount — one off Jerusalem’s holiest sites.

“When they saw policemen, they shot towards them and then escaped to-wards one of the mosques in the Temple Mountt compound,” police spokeswoman Luba Simrii told Reuters. “A chase ensued and the three terrorists were killed by police.”

The slain officers were identified as Staff Sgt. Maj. Haiel Sitawe, 30, andd Staff Sgt. Maj. Kamil Shnaan, 22, the son of former Israeli parliament member Shakib Shnaan, the Times of Israel reported.

Both cops were members of Israel’s Druze community, an Arabicspeaking religious minority. A third officer was injured, police said.

Dramatic footage screened on Israeli TV showed a few seconds of the battle inside the compound, where one of the assailants who had dropped to the ground suddenly jumped up and lunged at a cop, who then shot him.

Police recovered two Carl Gustav submachine guns, a pistol and a knife from their bodies.

The gunmen were identified as Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Jabareen, 29, Mohammed Hamed Abd Al-Latif Jabareen, 19, and Mohammed Ahmed Fadel Jabareen, 19, all from the city of Umm al-Fahm in northern Israel, the Israeli Haaretz newspaper reported.

One of the 19-year-olds had posted the foreboding Facebook message — featuring him with the older attacker — shortly before the rampage.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas praised it.
