Dems offer ‘Better Deal’
Democratic leaders traveled to rural Virginia on Monday to tell working-class Americans President Trump doesn’t have their back — but they do.
They unveiled a new 2018 campaign platform called “A Better Deal” and argued that they can deliver higher wages, lower consumer costs and better training opportunities if voters return them to power.
“President Trump campaigned on a populist platform talking to working people . . . But as soon as he got into office, he abandoned them,” Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer said in Berryville, home to Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, which Democrats hope to win in 2018.
“We Democrats are going to fill that vacuum.”
