Bill was late for big date

BILL de Blasio’s chronic tardiness goes back to long before he became mayor.

According to Sal Albanese, who is challenging de Blasio (inset) in the Democratic primary, de Blasio was an hour and a half late to his own wedding to Chirlane McCray.

Albanese told radio host Curtis Sliwa how he, his wife, Lorraine, and dozens of other guests sweltered under a hot sun in Prospect Park that day in 1994, waiting for the groom to appear. “There was no shade. My wife was furious, and kept nudging me,” Albanese said. “She almost got me to leave.” De Blasio had two aunts sitting behind the Albaneses, and they were upset, too. In Italian — thinking no one could understand their conversation — one said, as translated by Albanese: “Bill was a jerk as a kid, and he continues to be a jerk today.”

Albanese, who emigrated from Calabria at age 8, is fluent in Italian and understood completely.
