Weird BUT true

No worse person to solicit for drugs than a cop. No worse place to make a drug deal than in front of a police station.

Yet two men approached a Hartford, Conn., police officer as he left the station, and asked if they could buy cocaine from him on Sunday, officials said.

The men said they needed to hit an ATM machine for cash. When they got back, the off-duty cop had them arrested, officials said. This isn’t a joke, dummy. San Francisco police are trying to help a professional ventriloquist — who was robbed of the doll he uses in his act.

The 20-year-old victim was mugged in the Mission District, police said. He suffered minor injuries trying to fight off the suspects who grabbed his dummy.

A wannabe Spider-Man was busted in Athens, Ohio.

Skyler Smart, 23, had become a local celebrity for videos showing him jumping from building rooftop to building rooftop.

But the Ohio University student couldn’t outrun police last week. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and trespassing.

New Hampshire “herd” these four-legged workers would get the job done.

The city of Keene brought in 30 goats to chew off vegetation around a closed landfill. The hungry workers are being protected by a dog named Enzo, who is in charge of scaring off any nearby predators.

Route 66 is trying to pump up its tourist traffic.

Operators of The Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum in Oklahoma said they’re close to unveiling a 66-foot-tall gas pump, which would be the tallest in the world.

The museum is dedicated to the history of American auto travel, especially on Route 66. The pump should draw the eye of passersby, according to executive director Lina Holmes.

“We’re hoping they’ll come in the doors after they see the pump,” she said.
