Angie story leaks early

-

CALL it Angelina Jo-leak! Vanity Fair’s bombshell cover story on Angelina Jolie — in which the star revealed she privately cries in the shower over Brad Pitt and suffered from Bell’s palsy — blew up the Internet on Wednesday. But the piece leaked a day earlier than planned and fellow Condé Nast publication Vogue could be to blame, according to some media insiders. The story was being stage-managed to break Thursday morning on shows including NBC’s “Today” and ABC’s “Good Morning America,” sources said. Instead, the embargoed piece popped up a day early on a Bravo TV relationship blog with no fanfare. Vanity Fair brass were surprised that the big Jolie story was suddenly on Bravo’s Personal Space blog, which mixes celeb news with pieces such as “Would You Ever Tell Someone They Need To Lose Weight?” When VF saw the Bravo piece online, the glossy quickly put its cover story on its own site a day earlier than planned and it went viral. But it turns out the Bravo site did not believe it was posting an exclusive or breaking any embargo. Sources told Page Six that the juicy Jolie scoop was somehow leaked via a Vogue “preview link” that went out, or was published, early Wednesday morning, making the fashion mag’s pickup of the Vanity Fair piece available to outsiders. One Condé Nast insider said, “The company wants the magazines to promote each others’ stories that are newsworthy,” but sending out or posting another mag’s piece early, “especially a cover story,” would be “a major screw-up.” Another insider joked of the snafu, “What is this the [JFK] ‘grassy Jolie’ conspiracy theory?!” Vogue’s time stamp is after Bravo’s and VF’s. But an e-mail seen by Page Six reveals the preview link was accessible before 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Reps did not get back to us.
