Rapper Kidd Creole — one of the founding members of the ground-breaking hip-hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five — stabbed a homeless sex offender to death after a shouting match on a Midtown street, officials said.

The 57-year-old rapper, whose real name is Nathaniel Glover, was arrested at his home in The Bronx on Wednesday and charged with murder in Tuesday night’s attack at East 44th Street and Third Avenue, according to police sources.

The former hip-hop great, who now works as a Midtown maintenance man and security guard, fled the scene, leaving John Jolly, 55, lying bleeding on the sidewalk, the sources said.

Glover was later identified through surveillance video.

After finding Jolly on the ground, cops initially thought he was either too intoxicated to stand or was completely passed out.

They soon noticed the multiple stab wounds in his chest and had him taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As he lay dying, Jolly refused to cooperate with police, refusing to identify his attacker and resisting efforts to take him to the hospital.

“I guess he didn’t think he was going to die,” one source said.

A high-ranking police source told The Post that Jolly was a sex offender who did six years on rape charges.

He was arrested at least three times for sexual assault, the source said.

Glover, who was awaiting arraignment Wednesday night, rose to fame in the 1970s after helping to form Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five with rappers Melle Mel, Keith Cowboy, Mr. Ness/Scorpio, Rahiem and DJ Joseph Saddler, better known as Grandmaster Flash.

Their songs “The Message” and “White Lines (Don’t Do It)” helped catapult the group to stardom in the ’80s and put rap on the map.

They eventually would break up into two groups, citing personal differences. They briefly reunited in 1987 before eventually disbanding for good.

The rap pioneers would go on to become the first hip-hop group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

Over the years, Creole has tried to stay relevant by using social media to promote his shows.

He tweets and posts pictures regularly — even popping a tribute to Keith Cowboy, who died in 1989, just before he was arrested.

“#RIP my legendary brother,” Creole tweeted at 3:02 p.m. Wednesday. “#Salute.”
