TRAINING DAY

- —Paul Schwartz

UP FOR GRABS

The battle for the final spot at receiver is heating up. Darius Powe (inset) made several catches in the 7-on-7 period. Powe, at 6-foot-2 and 218 pounds, is physically impressive. Undrafted rookie Travis Rudolph

ran a nice route and hauled in a deep ball from Davis Webb, slicing between Nigel Tribune and Eric Pinkins.

HOT POTATO

There is a big difference in the way the offense operates when Eli Manning is on the field. His backups,

Josh Johnson and Geno Smith, tend to hold the ball too long and both need to be more decisive with where they want to go with the ball in an offense predicated on quick passes.

CAUGHT MY EYE

Does a team that dances together win together? Who knows, but the Giants sure present themselves as a tight group. A video of them having a dance party in their locker room went viral, especially the sight of Manning making some “moves.’’

INJURY REPORT

WR Sterling Shepard gave everyone a scare when he went down early in practice, but was later diagnosed with a sprained ankle. Rookie G Jessamen

Dunker (foot) left practice early. CB Valentino Blake (low back tightness) did not practice. DE Jason

Pierre-Paul was given the day off. WR Dwayne Harris (shoulder) returned to practice. RB Shane Vereen and DE Devin Taylor, both out with lower body soreness, worked on the side with trainers.
