‘River’ gets very bloody

- Cindy Adams

CINEMA Society screening. A pile of three-namers attended, such as Ricky Paull Goldin, Julia Goldani Telles, Imogen Lloyd Webber, Jack Brinkley-Cook, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Eric “Elew” Lewis.

“Wind River” being a Weinstein movie, the murmur was, “Harvey himself will be here.”

I figure, OK. I can handle that kind of stress.

Its star Jeremy Renner: “While we talk I prefer to stand. If I sit, I’ll pop a button.

“I’m tired. It’s been a long, busy time with no rest. Also, it’s time to be a daddy. I love babies and being a daddy. My little daughter’s waiting in the car. After we finish here, I’m taking her to dinner.” It’s 7:45. The kid’s 3 ¹/2.

“Good to be in New York, even for a short stint. Just to do a job. I once lived here, and New York people are great. That’s what makes a place. But the family’s in California, so now I live on planes.

“This movie’s about a local girl murdered on a remote Native American reservation. Guys shoot one another like an old Mexican standoff. Filming, with wildlife and in a snowmobile, was Wyoming and Park City, Utah.”

Co-star Elizabeth Olsen: “Jeremy finds the body 11,000 feet up. I play a federal agent. Lots were done in one wide shot with everyone shooting, killing and bleeding. In a blizzard. I loved it.

“Blood spatters from a plastic bag inside your costume. It pops in just the right time. Someone triggers it. They press something, and whatever works for blood suddenly appears. Other people’s socalled blood splattered on me. And on my clothes.”

As I left, some voice croaked: “You can’t leave. What’ll we tell Harvey?” I said it’s OK. “‘Wind River’s’ great. I’ve already seen it.”

Our Harvey who art in the office — Hollywood be thy name.
