Sinead O’Connor is “safe” and surrounded by loved ones, according to a Facebook posting on her page Tuesday — but her current home is still a cheap New Jersey motel.

A message popped up on the troubled singer’s online page that read, “I am posting at Sinead’s request, to let everyone who loves her know she is safe and she is not suicidal.

“She is surrounded by love and receiving the best of care,’’ the note said. “She asked for this to be posted knowing you are concerned for her.”

The message came the day after disturbing video footage of the “Nothing Compares 2 U’’ singer (inset) surfaced showing her inconsolably crying as she said she was struggling to stay alive while living out of a Travelodge in South Hackensack and battling “three mental illnesses.’’

South Hackensack police Capt. Robert Kaiser said Tuesday his department was flooded with phone calls from O’Connor’s fans, asking cops tto check on her. On Friday, the day after the video was posted to O’Connor’s Facebook page, “We came down here to do a welfare check, and she was not in the room,’’ Kaiser told The Post outside the motel. “We did periodic checks throughout the weekend” but didn’t find her, the cop said. He said she is still renting her room at the motel, which advertises prices starting at $95 per night, and her SUV remains in the parking lot.

Fellow singer Annie Lennox was among those who expressed concern Tuesday for the shaven-headed fallen star. “I realize that Sinead has some serious mental health issues, but she appears to be completely out on a limb and I’m concerned for her safety,” the Eurythmics singer wrote on Facebook. “Are there no close friends or family who could be with her to give her some loving support? It’s terrible to see her in such a vulnerable state.”

Michael Wildes, a lawyer and O’Connor friend, told The Post he was with her Friday and “she is being treated now.”

“There are professionals caring for her, and she has the love of those people,’’ he said. “I’ve seen the video . . . It’s hard to watch. It’s really a difficult time for her, but I’m positive she will surmount it.”
