‘Sexism’ bro slaps Google
The Google engineer fired for circulating a 3,000-word memo blaming “biological causes” for women’s lack of achievement in technology has filed a legal complaint against the company.
James Damore argues it was unfair for the tech giant to ax him and filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board Tuesday claiming that he was subjected to “coercive statements” while working at Google.
The filing could lead to legal action by the ousted engineer.
He was told he was let go for “perpetuating gender stereotypes,” Damore told The Associated Press Tuesday.
Damore wrote and circulated a 3,300-word manifesto titled “Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber,” blasting the company’s “left bias” for creating a “politically correct monoculture that ignores differences between the sexes,” according to Bloomberg News.
The memo, which was obtained and published by Gizmodo, says men simply have a “higher drive” to succeed.
“We always ask why we don’t see women in top leadership positions, but we never ask why we see so many men in these jobs,” the memo reads.
“These positions often require long, stressful hours that may not be worth it if you want a balanced and fulfilling life.”
Google CEO Sundar Pi- chai sent a memo to employees Monday, saying that pieces of Damore’s screed “violate our Code of Conduct and cross the line by advancing harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace.”
Pichai plans to address company staff at a Thursday town hall.
Google and the NLRB declined to comment.
