Creepy CEO beats feds

- By KAJA WHITEHOUSE

Wall Street’s creepiest CEO is now also the luckiest.

The feds have dropped their securities fraud case against New York Global Group boss Benjamin Wey — known to publish hit pieces on reporters who write critically about him and ordered to fork over millions for sexually harassing an intern.

Manhattan federal prosecutors Tuesday said they would “dismiss the charges pending against Wey.”

In June, Manhattan federal Judge Alison Nathan ordered the feds to toss all warrant evidence collected in the case after Wey proved to her that prosecutors and the FBI conducted an indiscriminate search on his home and office.

Nathan ruled that the 2012 search warrants, issued under then-Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara, violated Wey’s constitutional right not to be subject to an unreasonable search.

“This case should serve as a powerful reminder for years to come that the government must adhere to fundamental safeguards of our privacy and liberty when conducting searches,” said Wey’s lawyer David Siegal, of Haynes and Boone.

Wey, ordered in 2016 to fork over $5.65 million for sexually harassing Hanna Bouveng and then writing in The Blot magazine that she was a cocaineaddicted hooker, said, “I have always had faith in the American system of justice and I am grateful that justice has been served.”
