Hack works out with 1st team again

- By BRIAN LEWIS

For the second straight practice, quarterback Christian Hackenberg got reps with the first-team offense. Tuesday didn’t go as swimmingly as his first. In the first practice since the Jets announced they had lost top receiver Quincy Enunwa for the season, Hackenberg did throw two touchdowns, including his best throw of camp. But after having not thrown an interception in team drills so far in camp, he threw two in a span of three plays — and another in 7-on-7s. “I started off slow in blitz period,” Hackenberg said. “But per- sonally, I was most proud about being able to come back and finish, and really not let it affect me throughout the rest of practice. I think as a team, as an offense, we finished better. I think that’s growth right there.”

Hackenberg went 4 - of-1 2 with a pair of picks and two s cores, including a 75-yard touchdown to wide receiver Robby Anderson.

“He made some progress, and he has some things to learn from with the interceptions,’’ coach Todd Bowles said. “But overall we’ll grade the f ilm. Going forward he had some good and bad plays. He just has to learn from them.”

Hackenberg is listed as No. 3 on the unofficial depth chart. But Bowles cautioned against putting any emphasis on that.

“We haven’t discussed [the order] yet. We just had to put out an unofficial depth chart,’’ said Bowles. When asked how much though he put into i t, Bowles repled “None.”

With Enunwa out for the year, and Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker waived, that leaves Anderson and Ja li n Marshall as the nominal start-

ers at wide receiver, with Charone

Peake, and rookies Chad Hansen

and ArDar ius

Stewart in the mi x . But Marshall is serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy.

The Je t s open t hei r preseason Saturday against Tennessee. They appear to be waiting to see their young receivers in action before determining if they need to go outside the building for help.
