TRAINING DAY

-

MAYE THE FORCE ...

Rookie second-round pick Marcus Maye has been good so far in camp, but Tuesday he was great. He followed big hits with a pick-six — his second in four days — by intercepting Christian Hackenberg and running it back for a touchdown.

RUN AMOK

Jets running backs did not have a good day. FB Julian Howsare dropped an easy Christian Hackenberg pass in the flat, and RB Elijah McGuire had a pair of redzone drops.

QB DERBY

Josh McCown (7-of-13, TD, three sacks) and Bryce Petty (8-13, TD, two sacks) had fair-to-middling days. But Christian Hackenberg (4-of-12, two TDs, two INTs) showed his inconsistency, obscuring a 75-yard score to Robby Anderson with a pair of interceptions, including a pick-six.

CAUGHT MY EYE

After a sloppy start, nose tackle Steve McLendon called an ad-lib meeting in the middle of practice and gave a speech. It appeared to ramp up the tempo, which pleased coach Todd Bowles: “It’s good that they can get themselves out of a hole, get themselves together, pick themselves up.”

MEDICAL REPORT

RB Matt Forte (hamstring), LB Lorenzo Mauldin (back) and RB Bilal Powell (neck) are all out. WR Deshon Foxx went out with an injury, but Bowles said he wasn’t sure of the nature of it. CB Xavier Coleman has a deep bone bruise.
