DAVID Letterman is returning to television — this time in the digital arena.
The former “Late Show” host, 70, will star in a sixpart Netflix series (no title yet) in which he’ll combine “in-depth conversations with extraordinary people and in-the-field segments expressing his curiosity and humor.” Each episode will be an hour long.
The series, as yet untitled, will premiere next year. It marks Letterman’s first major TV project since retiring as host of CBS’ “The Late Show” in May 2015.
“I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix,” Letterman said in a statement. “Here’s what I have learned — if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely.”
Since his “Late Show” farewell, Letterman has, for the most part, stayed out of the spotlight — growing a big bushy beard and making occasional appearances, most recently on Norm Macdonald’s Web series “Norm
Macdonald Live.” He also cohosted an episode of TCM’s movie series “The Essen
tials” with Alec Baldwin and appeared in the Showtime documentary “Years of Living Dangerously.” Letterman spent 11 years hosting NBC’s “Late Night with David Letterman” before his 22-year run on “The Late Show.” — Michael Starr
Fox has ordered "The Four," a singing competition series in which four finalists will face challengers — who could supplant them on the show.
