Reunion set for Decker, Gang Green

- By BRIAN COSTELLO

The Jets released Eric Decker exactly two months ago. Now, they get to see him again — in a Titans uniform.

Decker will return Saturday to MetLife Stadium with his new team. He is not expected to play much because he is a veteran starter, but he might give the Jets a few glimpses of the player they saw for three years.

“I’ll smile because I’ll get to see some good buddies that I made throughout the three years I was there,” Decker told The Tennesseean this week. “It is kind of funny how it worked out, first game I go back to where I got nicked not too long ago. I won’t play much, hopefully, but it’ll be good to see some guys, go back up there.”

Decker was part of the great roster purge of 2017. He lasted longer than some others, though. Decker went through the beginning of OTAs with the Jets. The team informed him June 6 they were trying to trade him and would cut him if they could not find a trade partner. On June 12, they cut him. He signed with the Titans shortly after that.

Decker had 80 catches for 1,027 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2015, but played in just three games last season before getting sidelined with a shoulder injury. DE Leonard Wil

liams said Thursday he is looking forward to hitting a quarterback after months of practice facing Jets quarterbacks who are wearing a red non-contact jersey.

“I was just telling my teammates that we actually get to hit a quarterback,” Williams said. “We finally get to go out there and see a different color on an opponent to hit. It’s exciting.”

Decker is not the only former Jet returning to MetLife. TE Jace Amaro was a second-round pick by the Jets in 2014. He played two seasons with them before getting cut before the 2016 season.
