ESPN’s ‘Robert Lee’ Insanity

-

ESPN pulled sports announcer Robert Lee from covering a University of Virginia game because his name closely resembles Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee (“Worldwide Lee-der,” Phil Mushnick, Aug. 25).

He’s an Asian-American, and Lee is one of the most common Chinese surnames.

Where in God’s name is this madness heading? Will people have to start changing their names to make the left happy?

Let’s all just take a deep breath and start thinking straight. Jean Cole Juno Beach, Fla.

For ESPN to pull Lee is the height of absurdity and paranoia.

Now Asian-Americans are being unfairly punished for the Confederate-statue controversy.

ESPN has made a bad situation even worse. Kenneth Zimmerman Huntington Beach, Calif.

ESPN’s decision is the culmination of the liberal insanity that began the day President Trump announced his campaign.

From The New York Times’ Jim Rutenberg declaring that Trump was testing journalistic standards of objectivity to CNN’s Martha Raddatz’s crying on election night, Americans have faced over two years of the media’s insanity.

Since Thomas was “Stonewall” Jackson’s given name, there’s no doubt EPSN would’ve taken NFL analyst Tom Jackson off the air had he not retired. Richard Sherman Manhattan
