Sullinger has shot at B’klyn signing

The Nets scouted Jared Sullinger this summer, and now they’re hosting the unemployed big man at the HSS Center, their practice facility.

“He’s in town for a workout,” a source close to the player told The Post. “It’s an opportunity for [the Nets] to watch him.”

A photo of the former Ohio State star wearing Nets gear and posing with Brooklyn point guard and fellow Buckeye D’Angelo Russell surfaced online Tuesday.

“He and DR are friends,” the source said.

If the 25-year-old Sullinger can impress the Nets, perhaps he and Russell can be teammates.

Sullinger spent four seasons with the Celtics and last played briefly for the Raptors after getting a oneyear, $6 million deal last summer. But after he broke his foot and played just 11 games, Toronto dealt him to the Suns, who promptly released him.

Clearly out of shape, the 6foot-9 power forward/center admitting having ballooned to 320 pounds in his final season in Boston. But he was down to 285 pounds earlier this summer and led the Ohio State alumni to the semifinals of The Basketball Tournament last month. Nets assistant general manager Trajan Langdon scouted Sullinger during TBT games at LIU Brooklyn.

After that tourney, Sullinger said he was interested in joining the Nets. A solid defender and rugged rebounder, he averaged 13.3 points and 7.6 rebounds in 2014-15, and mustered 10.3 and 8.3 in 2015-16 despite being out of shape. With improved conditioning, Sullinger could be a savvy low-cost gamble for general manager Sean Marks, whose team is in desperate need of frontcourt depth and rebounding.

Declining Timofey Mozgov and spindly teenaged rookie Jarrett Allen are the only Nets taller than 6foot-8 and weighing more than 228 pounds.
