SISTERS IN ARMS
Bank tellers stare down the barrel of a nun!
They haven’t got a prayer! Two gun-toting women in matching nun getups held up a Pennsylvania bank in a failed heist that sparked an FBI hunt, authorities said.
The twisted sisters — dressed head to toe in veils, black habits and white wimples — stormed a Citizens Bank branch near Tannersville at around noon on Monday, police sources told Fox affiliate WTFX.
Sporting dark sunglasses to hide her face (above, far left), one of the naughty nuns guarded a door while the other (left) whipped out a black handgun and demanded cash, Pocono Township Police Department sources told the station.
But the sinful swindlers got spooked and fled without a cent after a cashier triggered an alarm, according to cops.
It’s unclear if they fled on foot or in a car.
Cops passed the case off to federal authorities, who are seeking infor- mation about the women, both of whom are between 5-feet and 5-feet2-inches tall, according to officials.
The crooks are believed to be armed and dangerous, authorities warned.
“#Wanted for attempted armed bank robbery today in #Tannersville PA: 2 H/F, ~5’-5‘2”; wore nuns’ habits/veils, had blk handgun,” the FBI’s Philadelphia office tweeted Monday night.
Anyone with information about the crime should call (215) 418-4000.
It’s not the first time bandits have disguised themselves as nuns to pull off a robbery.
In 2011, two thieves stormed a bank in Chicago wearing nun garb and rubber masks.
The next year, a band of thieves used similar costumes — including masks inspired by the Ben Affleck thriller “The Town” — and swiped $200,000 from a Queens checkcashing joint.
Authorities later played footage from the flick at the suspects’ trial.
