A day after striking a deal with Democratic leaders on a Hurricane Harvey aid package, President Trump reached across the aisle again Thursday over a major Hudson River tunnel project.

Trump huddled at the White House Thursday afternoon with Gov. Cuomo, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Senate Minority Learder Charles Schumer , Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and several House members to discuss a way to fund the $30 billion Gateway Tunnel project.

“The president certainly mentioned many times how bipartisanship is the way to go with many things, including the project we were speaking to him about,” said Rep. Dan Donovan (R-Staten Island).

But Cuomo issued a statement saying there was no deal on financing.

“While the White House meeting was productive, it was inconclusive,” he said.

Cuomo said he wants Trump to abide by an agreement with the Obama administration to have the federal government foot half the cost of the project.

New York, New Jersey and the Port Authority are slated to pick up the other half of the cost.

While Trump didn’t commit to funding the Gateway Project, his level of engagement and his questions on the logistics gave some reason to be optimistic.

“The meeting was positive,” Schumer said
