Why Bernie’s Health Plan Is Wrong for America

-

Does anyone really believe that Sen. Bernie Sanders and his 17 Democratic disciples want “Medicare for All” for themselves (“The Most Insane Part of BernieCare,” Betsy McCaughey, PostOpinion, Sept. 18)?

Remember that Congress carved out an exception for itself while passing ObamaCare, and the Democrats will do it again if they get their way and force universal health care on the American people.

They’ll certainly get their MRIs and surgery while the rest of us wait, and some die, before receiving treatment. Ask the people who live in countries with government-run health care.

We need 17 new senators, instead of the snake oil they are pedaling. Roy Itzkowitz Belleville, NJ

As a member of the Senate committee that gave us ObamaCare, with its lies, narrow choices and a level of bureaucracy that makes the Department of Motor Vehicles look good by comparison, Sanders has now offered us an even worse option.

An ideologue who never gives in, Sanders wants us to respond to ObamaCare’s failure by giving the government complete control over the entire health-care system.

He’s determined to make our health-care system exponentially worse than it already is. Gary Mottola Brooklyn

If single-payer is good enough for the rest of us, it should be good enough for Democrats in Congress.

To Sen. Sanders and the rest who are pushing this ill-conceived plan: When you give up your private plan and join the rest of Americans who are subject to the laws you’re trying to force on us, we’ll consider your health plan.

But until such time, take your socialist ideas and shove them.

Medicare for All is a terrible idea and would not only cost billions (and waste much of it) but would ensure a lower quality of medical care.

We already have a government program providing medical care to millions. It’s called Veterans Affairs. How is that working out?

The VA takes in huge amounts of government funding and still produces dismal results. Where there is no competition, and government money is taken for granted, what motivation does it have to improve? Arthur Horn East Windsor, NJ
