QB on criticism: I can take it

- By PAUL SCHWARTZ

Eli Manning can take it. And he said he thinks too many people have gotten just a bit too soft when it comes to dealing with criticism.

So, anyone wondering what Manning thinks about coach Ben McAdoo pointing out a few mistakes made by the 36-year-old quarterback, well Eli isn’t sweating it.

“That’s part of being in the NFL, you can’t be sensitive,’ ’ Manning sa i d Wednesday. “I think everybody has gotten very sensitive, players and everybody. If someone says anything negative about you, you did something wrong, that you got a problem. Coach McAdoo and I have a great relationship. He understands, I told him when he f irst got here, I enjoy being coached. If I screw something up, let me know. There’s some things I got to be better at.’’

McAdoo came down hard on Manning for a delay-of-game penalty Monday night on the Detroit 2-yard line and an interception Manning t h rew i mmediately after the Giants forced a Lions t ur nover. Manning a cce pte d responsibility for both gaffes.

McAdoo sounded incredulous that anyone thinks he is picking on Manning.

“If Eli has anything he needs to talk to me about, my door is open,’’ McAdoo said. “We spend a lot of time together during the week.’’

This is a non- i ss ue in t he Giants’ locker room.

“No one loves Eli more than Mac,” Justin Pugh said. “He’s gonna be his biggest supporter.’’
