Jenkins receives ‘good’ injury news

The Giants will have to wait until Sunday morning to see if their top cornerback will suit up against the Eagles.

Janoris Jenkins is in danger of missing a second straight game with an ankle injury, and will be a game-time decision against the Eagles. Jenkins is listed as questionable, and hasn’t practiced all week, though he is scheduled to be a limited participant during a short session Saturday.

“We’ll take a look and see how he does [Saturday],” coach Ben McAdoo said Friday. “If he’s able to do anything and have some productivity, we’ll take a look at him on game day.”

Jenkins received “good news” from an MRI exam and X-ray this week. He didn’t suffer a significant injury, and feels more comfortable on his ankle, but he was hesitant to state his chances of playing this weekend.

Jenkins practiced on a limited basis last week, and worked out prior to Monday’s game, before the decision was made for him to sit out. The cornerback said he was “somewhat” close to playing against the Lions.

“It’s noticeably improved over the last week. I’m getting better,” Jenkins said.

Four days after Monday’s loss to the Lions, McAdoo took partial responsibility for what he originally labeled as “sloppy quarterback play.”

Speaking to the team website, McAdoo acknowledged he could have helped Eli

Manning avoid the delay-ofgame penalty on a fourthand-goal from the 2-yard line during the third quarter.

“Looking back on it, I can make the decision faster. I can get the call in faster,” McAdoo said. “I always look at myself critically, but it is up to Eli to get the ball snapped.”

Tight end Evan Engram was removed from the injury report, and is no longer in the concussion protocol. Linebacker B.J. Goodson (shin) is listed as out, along with tackle Bobby Hart (ankle) and linebacker J.T. Thomas (groin).
