Proving Trump’s Point: The Wiretap on Manafort
THE ISSUE: The surveillance of President Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort.
When Donald Trump said he believed his offices were wiretapped, members of the media laughed at him, mocked him and told us how stupid he was (“Taps prove Don was right: They’re out to get him,” Michael Goodwin, Sept. 20).
Now that we know the federal government did wiretap campaign manager Paul Manafort, I’d be willing to bet we won’t see anyone in the media admitting they were wrong.
The Obama administration’s behavior was largely ignored by members of the media, who seemed too busy promoting a political agenda and protecting the politicians they favor.

Wiretapping Manafort during Trump’s campaign was outrageous. Did we learn nothing from Watergate?
Let’s see how far this scandal goes. It’s absurd that it was done.

Goodwin’s article should be a wake-up call to the American public.
Many voters thought that Trump’s win, combined with Republican control of Congress, would result in a fundamental change in government policy. Goodwin lays out why the president is facing unprecedented challenges that are impeding his efforts.
From the FBI and State Department to former FBI boss James Comey and former National Security Adviser Susan Rice and everyone linked to the FISA warrants, surveillance, unmasking and Hillary Clinton’s email case, there seems to be an effort to circumvent legal standards of procedure.
This is a serious seizure of power that needs to be investigated and exposed.

Comey and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper both testified before congressional committees and told the public there was no wiretapping. Both men knew those comments were lies. Both should be investigated.
It is time the government learned that the American people won’t tolerate deceit from public employees.
