The many faces of Roger Goodell

-

ROGER Goodell is a transparent, pandering phony. Now he supports those selectively outraged players who refuse to stand during the national anthem.

In 2015, Goodell’s NFL was revealed to have allowed teams take $5.4 million in Department of Defense money to perform patriotic pregame shows.

Perhaps it’s time for all right-headed sports fans to take a knee during the anthem, to let both selectively outraged sides know they’re sick of it all, that the politicization of sports — the exploitation of sports to provide “a platform” — is driving them down and out.

Putting the “Con” in Conference: HBO’s “Real Sports,” Tuesday, 10 p.m., examines colleges that schedule home blowout wins that ticket subscribers must pay for while the schools pay the visitors, often predominantly black schools, to be slaughtered.

Last season Boston College, just 2-6 in the ACC, became “bowl eligible” — and played in the Quick Lane Bowl on ESPN — thanks to scheduled home wins against Wagner, Buffalo and UConn, won by a total of 107-13.

Sunday, with the 0-2 Giants down, 14-6, in the fourth, Odell Beckham, as if he didn’t know better, performed a dog-urination end-zone mime costing the Giants 15 yards. That’s the kind of incurable cool fool he is. But why not? He gets all the TV commercials.

If form holds, Francesa today will report that he knew all about the Carmelo Anthony deal days ago but was sworn to secrecy. And, gee, I’m gonna miss social activist Anthony’s charming “three-shots-to-the-head” street gestures.

FOX and “NFL Kickoff ” host Charissa Thompson Sunday gave genuine gender equity and legit broadcast journalism a real boost, as she dressed like a bare-shoulders, plunging neckline cocktail waitress in a strip joint.

October Forecast: Yanks will play late-night playoff games as per TV’s purchased power. Joe Girardi and his opposing manager will continue to try to deal themselves bullpen straights after the fifth, sixth or seventh, thus we’ll be left to count pitchers instead of sheep.
