‘SNL’ star kicks it at ‘Curb’
“SATURDAY Night Live” star Pete Davidson is dating Larry David’s daughter Cazzie, — and Davidson slipped away from rehearsals for the NBC show’s season premiere to make a rare public outing with his girlfriend to support David’s premiere of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
On Wednesday night, Davidson and Cazzie were seen together at a party for the HBO hit that’s returning for the first time since 2011. A spy told Page Six: “Pete was originally supposed to come to the screening and walk the red carpet as Cazzie’s plus-one — but he had to go to work on ‘SNL.’ So instead Cazzie settled with a shot on the carpet with her dad” as her date.
But later, at TAO Downtown, spies said that “Pete came to the party to support after he was able to escape from work.” Ryan Gosling is hosting the “SNL” season opener on Saturday.
Also at the HBO party, spies saw “SNL” producer and Ben Affleck’s current love interest, Lindsay Shookus.
Cazzie has said of her famously picky dad: “He really loves that I’m dating a comedian . . . He loves it because he feels like the only people he can talk to are people who also make jokes.”
Also at the screening and after-party for the ninth season premiere of David’s series were cast members including Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman and Cheryl Hines with real-life husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as well as HBO boss Richard Plepler, Aziz Ansari, Keegan-Michael Key and John Oliver. (The “Last Week Tonight” anchor was dressed down in a rumpled plaid shirt and a baseball cap.)
Davidson and Cazzie, both 23, have been open about their relationship but are rarely seen at events together. She told “Entertainment Tonight” at a gala in April: “We don’t go out [much], so it is a little bit fun for us to leave the house,” while Davidson added, “We don’t leave the house — I’m scared of everything.”
Earlier this year, Davidson revealed that, “I quit drugs and am happy and sober for the first time in eight years. It wasn’t easy, but I got a great girl, great friends and I consider myself a lucky man.” He’s told Seth Meyers he even has a tattoo of Cazzie’s name on his arm, and Davidson was showing some of his ink at the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” party in a short-sleeved shirt.
