Snacks bites back at Francesa

The problem with going after multiple targets at once is you never know which one might snap back.

Mike Francesa, in the middle of a rant about Giants coach Ben McAdoo, went after defensive lineman Damon Harrison, affectionately known as “Snacks,” for not talking to the media after the team’s losses this season.

“Those players in [the Giants locker room] are not under control right now,” Francesa said Thursday on his WFAN show. “You got Snacks, who was previously a good guy, not talking to the media from what I understand, after a couple games, after one game.

“After last year, everybody, everybody lauded his play, absolutely just heralded this guy who came from nowhere to become a first-team All-Pro because of his brilliant play against the run, and this year, when that team, led by him, is not making tackles and is getting bulldozed, now he’s, now he’s not talking?”

Francesa also got in a jab at Odell Beckham Jr. in the space of about 90 seconds, but Harrison was the one who responded on Twitter.

“FYI I talk to the media every week,” Harrison posted. “Haven’t spoken after any game win or lose. Why make a big deal of it now.”

Harrison also added a thinking face emoji and a clown emoji, the implication being clear.

Francesa’s larger point seemed to be McAdoo has lost control of his locker room and his 0-3 team.

“Once that starts, you got a team that is absolutely out of control,” Francesa said. “So you got guys not talking to the media after three games. You got a guy like Beckham. See, Beckham sets a tone and others jump in, and it is the wrong way to go. And this young coach hasn’t figured that out yet.

“I know he thinks he’s got all the answers, but he’s gonna find out in a hurry that he don’t have any. They are on the brink. They are this close — this close — to having this year completely unravel.”

Francesa did not reveal whether he possesses the answers McAdoo might be searching for, but before he chimes in again, he might want to run his facts by Harrison.
