‘Bees’ VIP swarm

-

SHAQUILLE O’Neal hosted a private Manhattan screening on Tuesday of “Killer Bees” — the debut documentary by Benjamin and Orson Cummings that just played the Hamptons International Film Festival. The movie follows Bridgehampton High School basketball coach Carl Johnson as he leads his team, the titular Killer Bees, to defend their state championship title. But the filmmakers explain, “The story goes beyond basketball to examine issues of race and absurd income inequality as community leaders fight to keep the school open and preserve a place for the black population in the Hamptons.” We hear that joining the VIPs at the intimate NYC screening were potential buyers — including ESPN — as well as executive producer and art collector Glenn Fuhrman. Art dealer Larry Gagosian and NBA legend Shaq are among the film’s producers.
