NYPD’s Video Investigation

THE ISSUE: A video showing an NYPD officer punching a teen who allegedly attacked the cop’s partner.

-

Someone is going to have to explain to me why the NYPD is wasting time investigating an officer who resorted to punching an alleged bike thief after the teen allegedly pushed the cop’s partner to the ground, assaulted him and resisted arrest (“NYPD cop pummels teen in disturbing video,” Oct. 7).

Sometimes police are damned if they do, and damned if they don’t. Charles Winokoor Fall River, Mass. The teen in this video was an alleged robber who attacked an officer and was subdued during said attack. He deserved more than he got.

The officer should be commended for his restraint. T. McGarry Island Park

Regardless of age, if somebody puts their hands on a member of law enforcement, they are going to be met with physical force.

I’m sick of these crybabies who feel they’re enti- tled to act like morons and suffer no consequences.

Instead of labeling a video like this “cop pummels teen,” how about “teen attacks police, and they detain him”? People need to be held accountable for their actions.

I don’t care how old you are, if you are going to engage a man with violence, don’t be surprised when the bigger man takes you down. Casey Nacarlo West Islip
