Zinczenko chock-full of mettle

- Keith J. Kelly

There is life after Time Inc. Patrick Connors, who was out as publisher of InStyle last year in a Time Inc. restructuring, has launched his own ad representative firm, Connors & Co. — and has David Zinczenko’s Galvanized Media as his first client.

The two worked together at American Media Inc. when Zinczenko, 47, (photo below) was overseeing editorial at Men’s Fitness and Connors was the publisher.

Zinczenko, who just jumped to NBC’s Today show as health & wellness contributor after a similar gig at ABC News, was the longtime editorial director of Men’s Health until his sudden exit five years ago. Currently, Zinczenko’s Galvanized is teaming up with Meredith Corp. to produce the quarterly magazine Eat This, Not That! — based on the bestselling books he co-authored while at Rodale.

Zinczenko has also reintroduced Best Life as a digital title after buying the rights to the title from a middleman who had purchased it from cash-strapped Rodale.

“I’m currently looking to add about eight people on the editorial side,” Zinczenko said. That would give him about 28 full-time employees in all.

“It’s great to be teaming up with David again,” said Connors, who is basing his fledgling firm in LA.

“I feel we have that special editor-publisher magic,” he told Media Ink.
