OBJ-less Giants head west in world of hurt

- By ALEX SQUADRON

As if things weren’t bad enough already.

After losing weapons Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle), Brandon Marshall (ankle), and Dwayne Harris (foot) for the season, the 0-5 Giants head into Denver with even more injury woes.

Linebacker Jonathan Casillas (neck), defensive ends Romeo Okwara (knee) and Olivier Vernon (ankle), running back Paul Perkins (ribs), center Weston Richburg (concussion) and wide receiver Sterling Shepard (ankle) have all been ruled out for Sunday’s prime time game against the Broncos.

Safety Landon Collins is listed as questionable.

In addition, Big Blue will be without veteran cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who was suspended indefinitely earlier this week because of a violation of team rules.

Coach Ben McAdoo sees the adversity as a “great opportunity.”

“Nobody is giving us a chance in hell to go win this ball game,” he said. “People don’t think we can score a point without [No.] 13. They think our defense has lost its stinger, special teams isn’t important to the whole locker room.”

“We’re going to find out what we’re out made of on a big stage. I think we have a good football team.”

An offensive line that has struggled through the first five weeks will meet one of the most talented defensive players in the league on Sunday: Von Miller.

So, what kind of challenge does he present?

“Unbelievable,” Giants offensive line coach Mike Solari said Friday. “He is one of the best. I think it’s exciting to be able to play against him.”

“Exciting” might not be the right word. “Scary” is probably more appropriate.

Miller was a first-team All-Pro and runner-up to the Raiders’ Khalil Mack for Defensive Player of the Year last season. Since he entered the NFL in 2011, no player has recorded more total sacks (77.5).

“He’s dynamic,” Solari continued. “What makes him dynamic? His first step. His initial quickness. ... And the other thing that is really impressive about Von when you watch him is all his moves. ... He’s got it all.”
