Mayoral hopeful Nicole Malliotakis blamed Hizzoner Sunday for turning a blind eye to public urination
“Public urination is something that the mayor has given the green-light to,” Mayor de Blasio’s GOP rival said during an interview on the “Cats Roundtable” radio show on 970 AM Sunday.
“I think we need to enforce quality-of-life crime,” Malliotakis (right) added. “We need to make sure we have a deterrent on the books so people don’t do these types of things.”
Malliotakis was referencing a softened stance the de Blasio administration took in January, where low-level infractions, such as public urination and alcohol consumption, would be steered toward civil, rather than criminal, resolutions.
“We need to make sure there’s a consequence for disrespecting your neighbors,” Malliotakis added, before diving into more criticism of de Blasio’s handling of homelessness and quality-of-life policies.
“The plan that the mayor has proposed most recently is to spend thethe taxpayers’ money to pay for a year’sar’s rent for homeless individuals who are willing to move out of the city,” she fumed to interviewer John Catsimatidis. “I think it’s really unfair for thethe struggling New Yorkers who are having difficulty paying their own rent or paying their own mortgage to now havee to pay the rent for another individual.”
The mayoral election is slotted for Nov. 7.
